Hanging By A Thread shows the vulnerability of nature in the aftermath of two wildfires. The landscapes shown here in Suffolk and Surrey were among those affected during summer of 2022 when UK recorded its highest ever temperature, 40.3 degrees Centigrade. On that day, 19th July, more than 800 wildfires broke out. The prints on Awagami paper were framed with locally sourced secondhand frames which were then burned and blackened, a similar result to the trees in the aftermath of the wildfires. This sense of material destruction is intended to emphasise how climate change is no longer a distant image but one closer to home.
